Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will go on to win a historic medal at the World Athletics Championships starting Friday in Eugen, USA. He will rely on great form and his consistency. The 24-year-old Chopra is one of the medal contenders at the World Championships after clocking a season’s third best effort of 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League on June 30.

Neeraj will create history as soon as he wins a medal in the World Championships. He will be the second Indian and first male player in track and field to do so. Anju Bobby George won the bronze medal in the long jump at the 2003 World Championships in Paris.

During the Kuortane Games in Finland, he won the gold medal with an effort of 86.69m despite the track being wet and slippery.

Chopra has surpassed main rival Anderson twice
Chopra’s main rival will be Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who won the gold medal at the 2019 World Championships. Peters has four of his five best attempts in the current season. He has thrown javelin up to 93.07 meters. Germany’s Johannes Vetter, the 2017 gold medalist, has pulled out of the World Championships due to a shoulder injury.
