The Union Cabinet took a big decision on Wednesday to promote religious tourism in the country. The Union Cabinet has approved the 116.65 km long Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road new rail line. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave this approval. The Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road new rail line will be constructed by the Ministry of Railways at an estimated cost of Rs.2798.16 crore. Three pilgrimage sites from two states will be connected in this project, which is targeted to be completed by 2026-27.

The proposed railway line will pass through Sirohi district of Rajasthan and Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Mahesana districts of Gujarat. Ambaji is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, which attract lakhs of devotees every year from Gujarat as well as from other parts of the country and abroad. At the same time, Mount Abu is the headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris community and its followers come from all over the world. With the construction of this railway line, lakhs of devotees will be able to travel easily. Visitors to the temple of Ajitnath Jain (one of the 24 Tirthankaras) located at Taranga Hill will get direct employment for about 40 lakh man-days. This rail line will facilitate faster movement of agricultural and local produce and provide better mobility of the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan with other parts of the country. With this, the path of social and holistic development along with economic activities will be easier on this entire route.

Expansion of Rail Transport Institute, became Gatishakti University
The Union Cabinet has given its approval to expand the National Institute of Rail Transport, Vadodara to make it Gatishakti University. The decision to grant it the status of deemed university has also been approved. With this decision, now its importance will increase in the country and abroad by facilitating studies related to rail and road transport sector. Here the facility of research, study and new experiments in all the resources and mediums related to motion will be given to the scholars. Its objective is to provide more efficiency and efficiency in the efforts being made in the field of transport in the country. Gatishakti Vishwavidyalaya will now provide opportunities to the stalwarts of rail and road transport across the country to manage, research, study and innovate in this sprawling institution spread over 55 acres.
