The government has removed some data of hundreds of registered NGOs in the country from the website of FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act). This website is operated by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Government officials have given information about this.
Although the Home Ministry official has not disclosed why this has been done, he said that it was not necessary to put this information in the public domain.
Let us tell you that the website of FCRA is maintained by the Foreign Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Earlier, complete information of all licensed NGOs was available on this site. Earlier, all the information related to all such NGOs which were approved to receive funding from abroad and whose licenses have been canceled was available on this site.
Now the data available on the site has been removed from the category of the NGO and the information related to the annual return of the NGO. However, the data of all such NGOs whose licenses have been canceled is available on the site as before.
