Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar disappointed everyone by finishing seventh in the final of the World Athletics Championships. After covering a distance of eight meters in the qualifying round, he made it to the final and became the first Indian to do so. After reaching the final, Sreeshankar had hoped for a medal from him, but he could not do so. His longest jump in the final was 7.96 meters and he finished seventh. In the qualifying round as well, he made it to the final by finishing seventh.
His performance this season has been excellent. His longest jump was 8.36 metres, but he could not even cover eight meters in the final and had to return empty-handed. Sreeshankar’s three attempts in the final were valid. He covered a distance of 7.96 meters in the first attempt, 7.89 meters in the fourth attempt and 7.83 meters in the last attempt. His remaining three attempts were invalid.
