NDA has enough numbers

election on August 6
The notification for the Vice Presidential election has been issued on July 5. Candidates can file nomination for this till July 19. The Commission has fixed August 6 as the date for the elections. The tenure of the current Vice President of the country, Venkaiah Naidu, ends on August 11.
How different is the election of the Vice President from the Presidential election?
- Members of both Houses of Parliament vote: The Vice-President is elected by the system of proportional representation through an electoral college consisting of members of both Houses of Parliament. Members of both the Houses of Parliament participate in it. Each member can cast only one vote. In the Presidential election, along with the elected MPs, MLAs also vote, but in the Vice-President election, only members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha can vote.
- Nominated MPs can also cast votes: Nominated MPs cannot vote in the Presidential election, but this is not the case in the Vice Presidential election. Such members can also vote in the Vice Presidential election. In this way, 790 electors of both the houses participate in the Vice-President’s election. In this, apart from 233 elected members of Rajya Sabha and 12 nominated members, 543 elected members of Lok Sabha and two nominated members vote. In this way their total number becomes 790.
