Every day, passengers in trains are worried about the vendors charging more money for food items. Its complaints are continuously reaching the railway officials. But now keeping in mind the complaints of the passengers, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has made preparations to rein in these vendors. IRCTC is going to introduce a new facility to save the passengers from hassle.

Actually, catering is booked only while making reservation in premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Tejas. But there are many trains in which food is not booked during the reservation. But in such trains, passengers are given facilities like pantry car for food and drink, through which passengers can get their food ordered in trains. On the other hand, in trains that do not have pantry cars, IRCTC vendors take food from the base kitchen and sell it in the trains.

In such a situation, many times the vendors charge more for the food from the passengers. Although these people keep the card swap machine with them, but not many passengers want to pay with the card. Such travelers give cash, in which the possibility of overcharges is high. Now in such a situation, to give relief to the passengers from this problem and to rein in the vendors, IRCTC has got the QR code printed in the menu card itself. Along with this, the vendors will also wear the QR code card, so that the passengers do not have to ask for the QR code. After purchasing any item, passengers will be able to pay on the QR code on the menu card.

This system will be applicable in all IRCTC trains. The new system has just been started with Sampoorna Kranti Express. After this, gradually the system will be implemented in all trains. This will give relief to the passengers from overcharging.
