In the year 1999, there were reports that Daler Mehndi was in Dawood Ibrahim’s hit-list. However, Daleh Mehndi denied any such threats. Trapped over community-specific album

In the year 2001, Daler Mehndi was in controversy for his album ‘Nabi Booba Nabi’. The album was mired in controversy even before its launch. In fact, groups of activists allegedly belonging to a particular community staged a sit-in at Azad Maidan in Mumbai and demanded a ban on the album. The protesters said that their religion was being mocked. However, Daleh Mehndi denied these allegations and said that the song is in praise of God. But because the album contained ‘Nabi’, the name of Allah, there was tension in the community. At the same time, the protesters claimed that the album also contained some objectionable pictures. The matter reached the court and later several changes were made to the album.

Case filed against Yash Raj Films

This case is from the year 2007, when the film ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ was released. Daler Mehndi was furious about the title track of the film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta. Actually he was its original singer. His voice was reportedly replaced by Shankar Mahadevan’s voice without any notice. In such a situation, Daler Mehndi filed a case against Yash Raj Films. In this, he talked about a formal apology from Yash Raj Films and also allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore. However, the makers also retaliated. Yash Raj Films accepted that Daleh Mehndi was the original singer. Also it was revealed that the terms and conditions could not be worked out, so he had to remove his voice. However, later a settlement was reached between Daler Mehndi and Yash Raj Studios. But, reportedly, Daler Mehndi was banned from the premises of the studio.
