Central Government Health Secretary Writes To States For Following Mohfw Guidelines In Monitoring Monkeypox As Cases Rise Worldwide News In Hindi

In view of the increasing threat of monkeypox in the world, the Indian government has increased vigilance. On Thursday itself, the central government has warned the states about monkeypox. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Health Secretaries of all the states and union territories, advising them to take extra precautions and follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health in the matter.

Significantly, people coming from abroad are constantly being monitored for monkeypox in India. A few days ago, symptoms were seen in some people from UP to Kerala. However, it is a matter of relief that its cases have not yet been confirmed in India. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), monkeypox is an infectious disease transmitted from animals to humans and its symptoms are similar to those of smallpox patients.

What are the instructions of the government?
The Health Ministry has given instructions that the states have been instructed to increase vigil at the point of entry i.e. from wherever people are coming. From disease monitoring team to doctors, it has been asked to be deployed at these places. Along with the examination of those who are found to have symptoms, instructions have also been given to investigate those who are in contact with them.

The government has said that there is also a need to increase testing and surveillance at the bases coming to the states. Along with isolating the patients, arrangements for their treatment should also be made immediately. They should be monitored from time to time and treatment should be continued till they recover, so that anyone can be saved from death.

Monkeypox cases are spreading rapidly around the world
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently reported that the number of confirmed cases of monkeypox has registered a weekly increase of 77 percent. The number of people infected with monkeypox has exceeded 6,000 worldwide. At the same time, in parts of Africa, two more people have died due to this virus.

Most cases of monkeypox have occurred in Europe and Africa. The UN health agency said the mysterious disease primarily affects men who have had sex with men, while other groups of the population have shown no signs of infection. The WHO said as of Monday it had 6,027 confirmed cases of monkeypox in laboratories in 59 countries, an increase of 2,614 from the last count in the week ended June 27. He said that so far three people have died of the disease, all of whom were from Africa.

He said that there have been cases of infection in nine more countries, while in 10 countries no new cases have been reported for more than three weeks. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that he was concerned about the level of spread of the virus and that more than 80 percent of cases have been in Europe.
