Amid controversy over late Congress leader Ahmed Patel’s alleged links with the Teesta Setalvad case, his daughter on Saturday said the veteran’s name “still carries weight” after his death. Mumtaz Patel accused those who did so of using her father for a ‘political conspiracy’. Mumtaz also asked why her father was not questioned by the authorities on these claims.
SIT alleges Ahmed Patel in affidavit
Let us tell you that in the 2002 Gujarat riots case, the SIT has claimed in the affidavit that Ahmed Patel had given 30 lakh rupees to social activist Teesta Setalvad to topple the then BJP government.
Mumtaz Patel retaliated
Amid the allegations leveled against the late Ahmed Patel, Mumtaz Patel hit back saying that his father’s name still carries weight. Hence his father’s name is being used for political gains. If the allegations are true, why was Teesta Setalvad not made a Rajya Sabha MP in the UPA government? He also asked that why did this government not get such a big conspiracy investigated till 2020?
BJP at the Center for eight years, why is the issue being raised now?
Mumtaz further wrote that for eight years the Modi government is leading the country with full majority and today everything is going wrong in our country. You guys are still blaming Congress. The one who blames others can never rise. In a conversation with a news channel, he said that if elections are coming, all this had to happen. There is a BJP government at the Center in the last eight years, so why is all this being raised now?
