Verma is now the only Indian archer to win a medal in all stages of compound archery. However, Abhishek could not do much in the singles competition. In the quarterfinals, he was knocked out by US World Champion and number one Mike Schlosser. He then lost in the semi-final match against world number four Jean-Philippe Boulch by a margin of 141–143. After this, he also lost the bronze medal match to Christopher Perkins of Canada by a margin of 145-148.
